Craniosacral
Therapy
how it works
What we do is use light touch to check the craniosacral area. Then, we release restrictions in these muscles using delicate bodywork. This hands on approach works to release tension deep in these areas.
Although, it is gentle (using pressure equal to about 5 grams) it is a powerful way to heal these soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. This type of therapy is being used increasingly as a preventative health measure because it’s extremely effective at reducing symptoms of pain and dysfunction in various areas of the body.
Craniosacral Therapy explained
Craniosacral therapy aims to enhance the healing capabilities of the body using light touch that affects the pressure and circulation of the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. It can be used as a standalone treatment by itself or used in conjunction with other therapies. Part of its appeal is that it has been used to treat a wide range of physical and psychological conditions. If you’re looking into craniosacral therapy to help heal or improve a health issue, it’s important to consult with your doctor before embarking on any specific treatment program.
Benefits for the elderly and all ages
This specific therapy can benefit people of all ages, but specifically the elderly. This video goes into the devastating conditions including Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. The speaker Michael Morgan touches on inflammation of the brain and how diet, exercise, and Craniosacral Therapy can serve as a ‘preventative regime’ against Alzheimer’s.
A powerful treatment
Many people aren’t aware of just how many interconnected muscles are on and around the scalp. These are the muscles that work together to form our facial expressions, and we tend to hold quite a lot of tension in these areas.
This is especially true if you work in an environment where you’re consistently looking at a computer screen. This is also the case if you’re exposed to a lot of stress and tension in the workplace or at home. The stress that you hold in the craniosacral area can interact with other body systems. This can translate into psychological stress, migraine headaches, chronic pain in the neck and back, and other unpleasant health symptoms.
